2.700 years ago…

The rich history of this area, as well as throughout the rest of Sicily, dates back to 2.700 years ago when Sicily, and especially the “la Valle del  Belice”, has been conquered several times during the centuries by ancient peoples, who clashed in our territories, destroying and recreating, at the same time, the island that today, with great pride, is the symbol of authenticity, tradition and cheerfulness of the inhabitants.

A special and typical Sicilian history

The origin of “Baglios”  has  a special and typical Sicilian history. They were in fact a characteristic constructions of Sicilian territory, which mainly arose in the area of the towns of Marsala, Mazara del Vallo and Salemi. Here the economy was based on agriculture and the wine.

Country Palace

The first proof arose since 1500, the “Baglios” were in fact a real “country palaces” which gathered in one building the manor and the servants houses and the warehouses for grain harvest.

The restyling of the estate

The De Marco family bought the country estate and immediately started restoration work, giving a significant and important restalying of all the buildings. The facilities have been restored using traditional techniques and authentic materials found both in the estate and  in the rest of the region, while the rooms have been renovated with the addition of modern and luxurious comforts.
